What file formats does Babel support?
Babel supports PDF (native and scanned with automatic OCR), DOCX, PPTX, and TXT files up to 100MB. Scanned PDFs are automatically detected and routed through our Agentic OCR system.
How does the credit system work?
1 credit equals approximately 10 characters of text. Your credit cost is shown before you confirm any translation. Credits reset each billing cycle. The Free plan includes 25,000 credits (~5 documents) monthly.
Is my data secure?
Absolutely. All documents are encrypted with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.3 in transit. Documents are never used to train AI models. Auto-deletion after 30 days (configurable). Business plans include SOC 2 Type II compliance and data residency options.
What makes Babel different from Google Translate?
Google Translate handles plain text. Babel handles documents. We preserve tables, charts, formulas, vector graphics, fonts, headers, footers, and multi-column layouts. We also offer bilingual side-by-side output, glossary enforcement, and batch processing — none of which Google Translate supports.
Do you offer an API?
Yes. Pro plans and above include full REST API access with endpoints for translation, job status, downloads, glossary management, and webhooks. Rate limits scale from 30 req/min (Pro) to 300 req/min (Business).
